Via Ferrata Gorge Farinet du Saillon

24 Sept 24

Ross and I ascended this VF today. I had done it 3 times before, the last over 7 years ago. I felt it had got harder. Conditions good, and in reasonable time with no (serious) wobbles. We ommitted the hard and overhanging Section 3.

Other VF members being sought. Just let me know.

At the start
Into the unknown
And up into the gorge
Another wire bridge
Up next to the cataract
And looking back down
Lower section -still smiling..
Section 2 The Traverse to the Bisse Tunnel – getting harder
Plenty of Gaz just before the Tunnel
Old Bisse Tunnel
High above the vendange from the Tunnel
Before the vertical headwall, the Tunnel behind
The Bridge from near the top of the route
Looking down the headwall from the Bridge, the route passes right of the white dove
Lunch. Glad we did it.

  1. Great pics guys. Rather you than me on that particular VF.
Have crossed over on the passerelle which was quite enough.
No wonder it took years to track down M. Farinet, who hid out in those parts.

  2. Well done guys. I have never done a via Ferrata and looking at your exploits, even without the most difficult third section, confirms my decision not to start now. great photos.
