So, it was agreed to accept my proposal of a ride through the open fields to the relative shade of the Jura hills up to the 888m point on the infamous Barillette ascent.\u00a0\u00a0It wasn\u2019t long before Peter (then Ivan Ed.) took over the lead as we headed onwards and upwards.\u00a0\u00a0We suffered varying degrees of pain and fatigue as the gradient increased from a modest 5% up to a more daunting 10.5%.\u00a0\u00a0e-Paul once again demonstrated the clear advantage of bike battery technology over raw lung and leg power as, with the mere touch of a button, he showed at least one fit-looking young interloper a clean pair of heels (or in this case, pedals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"http:\/\/ginclub.website\/home2\/gentsinnyon\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_4939.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ginclub.website\/home2\/gentsinnyon\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_4939.jpeg 640w, https:\/\/ginclub.website\/home2\/gentsinnyon\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/IMG_4939-300x225.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The team at 888. Thankfully only pride suffered a minor injury this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A table with seven places laid out awaited our arrival at Les Ab\u00e9rieux restaurant down on the lakeside at Prangins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beers were swiftly ordered and consumed before the mystery missing diner \u2013 our BLeader, Stephen, no less \u2013 made his welcome appearance, fresh from 15 minutes \u201cre-education\u201d on a stationary exercise bike.
