Log in then hover mouse over “Users” on Dashboard at left of screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fill in:- User name (FirstName LastName), Email, FirstName, LastName<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: the First Name and Last Name fields will be a duplication of what was entered in User name but must be entered since the section for members’ information uses these fields to create the member name. This will be blank if these fields not completed. There are historical reasons for this quirk!!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leave rest as defaults, but check that Role is set to “Author”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click “Add New User”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can now enter home phone, mobile phone, and address, see Edit member details<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Select “All users”, the following screen will appear<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hover the cursor over the name in column headed “Username” and
“Edit | Delete | View” will appear, select Edit. This brings up a screen like the one below. Ignore the top part of this screen (screen shot 1) and start editing at the section entitled “Role”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The role for all current members except the administrators should be set to “author”. The role for ex members should be set to ” – No role for this site – “. It is selected from a drop down menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First Name and Last Name will be combined to create the name that will be used in the members information section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you scroll further down the page you will come to a section where you can add or change phone numbers and postal address, may need to do this for a member, some are very computer phobic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click ‘Update Profile’ or ‘Update User’ when done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delete a member<\/span><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Do NOT actually delete the member in WordPress.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proceed exactly as in “Edit member details” but set the role to  ” – No role for this site – “.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Should also delete Address and Phone Numbers, then click “Update User”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This leaves the user name in the database so that his name is still linked to any blogs he created or any calendar entries he may have made etc. But the name will not appear in any of the member details or distribution list pages. It can only be seen by an administrator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You cannot delete an activity, this has to be done directly in the database – contact Mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edit posts and pages<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

All members can create Posts and can edit and delete their own posts. An administrator can edit or delete any body’s post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only an administrator can create, edit or delete pages. These are essentially static content that most members can only read (this is a Page, not a Post).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Select the WordPress dashboard. Then select ‘Posts’ or ‘Pages’ as required. Then “All Posts” or “All Pages”. You will see a list of all, no matter who created. For Pages there is also a hierarchy. Probably best not to change pages unless it is the page directly associated with an activity you are leading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
