B is the top left corner of the square and C is the point lying on the circle and on the perpendicular line from O. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Find the horizontal distance between the point B and the centre of the circle, O.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let the angle AOC = \u03b8 = atan(1\/2). BC had length 2 r cos \u03b8. It starts out fine but then loses it. It didn&#8217;t manage even when I suggested all the correct values&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I then mentioned this to my son and son-in-law. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One put the same problem into the paid version of ChatGPT.  This got the correct answer but took a long time, it seemed like several minutes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The other put the problem into Claude which wrote a program to solve it by brute force, trying all possible combinations. It also got the correct answer but was not fast.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seems like we can do better than AI on this problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"solution6\">Puzzle 6 (Height of man)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depends on how much alcohol he has consumed.<br>However I think he would be 2.4m tall.
